KnowledgePoint welcomes Brass for Africa

We wanted to share some exciting news, we are supporting the Brass for Africa charity which is based in Wokingham, Berkshire.

The charity’s mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in Africa through music education and life skills training…and we want to help them do just that.

Brass for Africa uses music as a tool to empower and transform the lives of more than 1000 extremely disadvantaged, and often disabled children and young people in Uganda and Liberia every week. Working with local organisations, they provide weekly brass music education alongside performance opportunities and life skills training to young people from orphanages, slum communities, Street Child Centres and Juvenile Rehabilitation Centres.

Based on our shared values of “Bringing learning to life” and “People who care about learning”, we saw an opportunity to assist Brass for Africa; in printing music sheets and promotional material, in securely packing instruments for shipping to Uganda, and most importantly ensuring that all instruments are delivered securely and able to pass through customs.

Jim is the Charity’s founder and works tirelessly to lead the team and ensure Brass for Africa’s success. Alongside Jim and his wife Pamela, the Administration Manager, there is a dedicated team in Uganda managed by Country Director – Andrew Agassi, Director of Music Education – Lizzie Burrowes, and Assistant Director of Music Education – Ronald Kabuye. Brass for Africa also has operations in Liberia, West Africa, and provides training and paid employment for over 40 locals across both countries.

Support and donations of playable brass instruments are always welcome, if you think you can help, please get in touch.
