KnowledgePoint won this year's Digital Printer Awards 2011 in the category "Digital and the Environment" with a bespoke project delivered to the University of East London (UEL). The Awards recognise the peak of achievement in this rapidly growing industry sector by judging on creativity, originality and innovative thinking as epitomising the very best in digital application. http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/47e2ca69#/47e2ca69/45 The winning entry focused on KnowledgePoint's joint project design and implementation for the "build your own prospectus" facility and the reduction in environmental impact that the switch to a digital and variable data print solution has helped UEL to achieve. Specifically the reduction in bulk printing of prospectuses which has involved improvements in: 1. Content obsolescence - material can be immediately updated and new courses added instead of waiting until the next academic year. 2. Waste - the equivalent of 4,000 240 page prospectuses have been saved i.e. 1.7 tonnes which equates to a saving of 2.5 tonnes CO2. 3. Savings achieved on printing and shipping by introducing 40 page individual digital prospectuses. 4. The eco efficiency of providing information has improved. Catherine Downes, Director, Corporate Marketing UEL comments: "We are delighted to have won such a prestigious Award - we have taken a major step forward to reduce our environmental impact by switching to a digital and variable data print solution using KnowledgePoint's XMedia service. Such innovation is synergistic with our business ethos of breaking the mould in education marketing." Professor Patrick McGhee, Vice Chancellor UEL adds: "The success of our collaboration with KnowledgePoint, and our determination to improve UEL's student recruitment experience, has resulted in the implementation of cutting edge technology which brings genuine value to our student programme and has made a positive difference to our business."
